International
Through their international engagement, the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences aim to influence European science policy as well as to make visible and strengthen the science location Switzerland in their remit. For this purpose, they also support relevant activities by other national actors and promote the exchange with academies abroad.
The geographic focus of the implementation measures is Europa, but the Swiss Academies are equally engaged at the global level. To this end, they use both the multilateral and bilateral level.
At the multilateral level, the Swiss Academies and their members are involved in several European and global organisations. In addition, they provide the secretariat for the Committee on Freedom and Responsibility in the conduct of Science (CFRS) of the International Council for Science (ICSU), hosted by the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT).
Furthermore, the Academies are engaged with a Delegate in the area of human rights related to science.
Finally individual member academies maintain links with partner academies in Europa and overseas. The Swiss Academies dispose of a specific agreement with the International Balzan Prize Foundation.
